Medical research

Several members of our lab are physicians in Medicine fields involving immunological or immunology-related physiopathologies.

Following are few examples of translation of the research activity of ImmunoConcEpT to clinical research and patient care :

GRIC « Clinical Research in Immunology Facility»

The GRIC « Clinical Research in Immunology Facility» is an autonomous, self-financed structure providing support for the development of translational research programs relying on the biological evaluation of immune parameters in patients. This structure provides to Bordeaux hospitals, the university community, research groups, biotech- and pharmaceutical- companies (local and international) access to knowledgeable expertise, “state of the art” equipments, essential techniques and fosters tight collaboration between clinicians, biologists and researchers. This context of transversality and multidisciplinarity was recognized and accredited by the SIRIC-BRIO, as a platform partner.

Created in 2009, the clinical research facility in Immunology is integrated within the Immunology and Immunogenic section (Head Pr. Patrick Blanco, MD, PhD). This facility is directed by Dr. Isabelle Pellegrin MD. PhD, supervised by a research engineer and technically operated by a full-time technician.

This structure works in close collaboration with the Biology and Pathology Pole, The “Bordeaux Biothèques Santé” (BBS) biobank to promote and ease the process for all Translational research projects, The CHU clinical research and Innovation services, The SIRIC-BRIO, Different CNRS and INSERM units including ImmunoConcEpT and other University core facilities.

The GRIC guides and evaluates any health-related research projects: internal promotion (Bordeaux University Hospital, Bordeaux University), external academic promotion and industrial promotion.

ACRONIM

Aquitaine’s Care and Research Organisation for Inflammatory and Immune-Mediated diseases.

The core theme of the ACRONIM FHU project is to improve future inflammatory disease care with a specific focus on the early stages of the diseases.

More about ACRONIM here.

Quanti-HLAb Project

Aquitaine Science Transfert® is the “Société d’Accélération du Transfert de Technologies de la région Aquitaine” (SATT Aquitaine), created in 2012. The SATT objectives are to promote academic research and improve the process of transferring technology to companies.

This year, 6 projects have been selected to be launched with a total 822 700 euros. The only selected project in heath is Quanti-HLAB, conducted by Jonathan Visentin, from our lab. The project aims to develop a methodology for the quantification of the anti-HLA antibodies, in order to better evaluate the risk of graft rejection in long term transplants.

Find more about this project in the page 2 here

ARIT

ARIT is the “Association pour la Recherche en Immunologie et Transplantation”

The aims of the ARIT are:

-to encourage research, specially in immunology and immunology of kidney transplant
-to promote educational and informative activities for physicians and transplanted patients to help diagnosis and care
– to help patients and their families managing the disease and following-up of the treatment
The ARIT was created in 2003. Pr. Lionel Couzi and Pr. Pierre Merville are the current president and vice-president respectively.

The Ange Gardien

The Ange Gardien project aims to improve the following and care of patients havig chronic inflammatory diseases. This e-project is based on sharing the information between patients, general doctors and specialists.

Partners: CHU Bordeaux; Université de Bordeaux, Région Nouvelle Aquitaine, université de Bordeaux et Capgemini Technology Services

Coordinators: Prs Jean-Luc Pellegrin, Patrick Berger, Thierry Schaeverbeke and Patrick Blanco.
