Deciphering the fungal immune system
We investigate the molecular mechanisms of regulated cell death in filamentous fungi. Through a variety of approaches, we aim to establish the molecular bases of the fungal immune system. In the context of comparative immunology, our work contributes towards a better comprehension of the evolution of immune cell death.

In our past work, we have uncovered evolutionary parallels between fungal cell death pathways and immune genes from animals, plants and bacteria.
We continue to explore the fungal gene arsenal for non-self discrimination, describing the molecular mechanisms of cell death, in a quest to build a paradigm of fungal immunity.
