Postdoctoral position: Vulnerability and Ageing of the Immune System

The Vulnerability and Ageing of the Immune System team (Team 1 ) is seeking to welcome a postdoctoral
scientist on a 2-3 years appointment starting early/mid 2024. The main objective of his/her
research will be to develop projects on the theme of human immune ageing, in particular related
to vulnerability to cancer and immunotherapy efficacy.

Job description

Our team is established within the ImmunoConcept unit affiliated with Bordeaux University, Inserm
and CNRS (https://immunoconcept.cnrs.fr/vulnerability-and-ageing-of-the-immune-system/). The
ImmunoConcept unit is located on the campus of the Bordeaux University on the Pellegrin Hospital
site. This location creates a strong dynamic of exchanges between research teams and hospital
services. The Vulnerability and Ageing of the Immune System team is currently composed of 25
members, including researchers, clinicians, students and support staff, under the supervision of
Julie Dechanet-Merville and Victor Appay. The team conducts fundamental and translational
research, exploring the functions of the immune system in pathological contexts, with the aim to
develop new therapeutic strategies against infectious diseases and cancer. The team is seeking to
strengthen its capacity to conduct immunomonitoring studies applied to multicentric cohorts in
relation to ageing, cancer and immunotherapy.

Candidate qualification and selection criteria

The selected candidate will benefit from a rich scientific environment and access to various state-
of-the-art technological platforms, notably for flow cytometry, cell culture, imaging, animal
experimentation, genomics and proteomics. Bordeaux offers a great life environment. The city has
excellent cultural activities, great nightlife and the Atlantic beaches, vineyards and superb Chateaux
are very close by. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to develop research projects in an independent manner.
